Hidden deer yard, November! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Beege49: This one has had a good run, but the tree is old and losing limbs and I don't want anyone getting hurt. Thanks for all the visits, everyone!

Geocache Description:

This has always been an obvious place for a hide, and the recent archiving of another cache opened it up.  Keep an eye out for our slithery friends on the way there, as well as for the muggles peddling nearby, and hopefully this cache will last for a while.  It's just right for the kids , and no poison oak is in this area.  You're only a 5 minute walk from the river, too.

When we lived in Maine, finding a deer yard, the area under trees where deer ate, slept, and generally coped with deep snow, was always a treat.  When placing this cache, there was evidence that deer slept here recently:  not surprising, since they can often be seen in the area along the fence, waiting to get in to the green grass to graze in the evenings.  The tree is a favorite perch for white-tailed kites, red-tailed hawks, swallows, robins, kingbirds, woodpeckers, and lizards, so you are urged to look up as well as down on the way to this cache.

Pay attention to the no parking signs, too; after all, you are right next to the Sheriff's Training Academy!
