The event will keep to the established KT formula of food and drink and geochat, with an optional hour's walk around the area at around 21:00. Hint: if you've not already solved Old Moon Rising, then now might be a good time to do so - or if that's not your thing, then there will be plenty of others at the event who already know where it's hidden and will have no shame in letting you in on the secret (myself included). The walk will also pass by a few new caches to be published the same evening. I'm sure that some of us will choose to spend further time back in the pub after the walk.
The Egerton Arms is a family run country pub serving real ales and locally sourced food. It's located in the small farming village of Chelford on the main road between Knutsford and Macclesfield. It was recently awarded East Cheshire CAMRA Pub of the Year 2012.
On my most recent visit the beers included the locals Tatton Brewery Best and Mobberley Fine Ales HedgeHopper, and from further afield Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and Wells Bombardier. Other drinks are of course also available...
The menu hopefully offers something suitable for everyone who wants to eat - note that they'll happily serve most items from the deceptively titled 'Light Lunch' menu in the evening too.
If you're not coming by car/bike/horse etc. then Chelford station on the Manchester-Stockport-Wilmslow-Holmes Chapel-Crewe line is about ten minutes' walk away. Only the local trains stop there but that does include services running after this event. There's no suitable bus service that I know of in the evening (the 27 between Macclesfield and Knutsford stops around 6 pm).
Please remember to note in your log the number of attendees and whether or not you expect to be eating. I'll keep the pub updated so that they can reserve a suitably sized area for us all to sit together. They're a popular local pub and can get busy on any night of the week, so please help me by logging your attendance in good time. Thanks.
Most important of all, this pub is a known haunt of the Lesser Spotted BandMandAandA so don't miss out on this excellent opportunity to make a very rare sighting of that most elusive of cachers. I look forward to seeing you all there - assuming that I remember to turn up, that is!
