Fred Smith Orchards Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Fred Smith Orchards Since 1950 It is best to search when the field is not overgrown as the growth here particularly is a pain to walk through but still passable. Pretty cool historical cache. CONGRATS TO: MuckSavage FTF! June 12, 2012 15:30

See that huge field? That's where you will find this cache. A former peach orchard and massive produce stop owned by Steve Smith (Fred Smith Orchards) this is a wonderful site to roam and take in the beauty of nature. Steve Smith sold this land back in 2001 as he did not see a successful future in it as he referred to his children continuing the farm. He still owns some land in the county but I have no idea where. Refer to this article for more detailed information: Click here! There was going to be a 50+ housing development constructed on the former orchard but due to concerns of the pesticide treated grounds all plans were abolished. I have noticed one by one homes are being added from the back left East corner of the former orchard slowly but surely. I do not think this is any connection to a new housing development though. Enjoy the history and the cache!
