Geocache Description:

針江生水の郷は湧水で有名な場所です。

We are called "Harie Syozu no sato" here at the place that is famous for a spring water.

高島市新旭町針江は生水（しょうず）（湧水のこと）の郷として知られ、各家の川端（かばた）（坪池のこと）ともに NHK TV （写真家・今森光彦の指揮の下に製作されたドキュメンタリー番組『〈NHKスペシャル〉映像詩 里山〜命めぐる水辺〜』）で有名になりました。平成２０年６月には環境省の「平成の水百選」に認定され、平成２２年８月には針江・霜降地区の水辺景観が国の「重要文化的景観」として選定されました。また平成23年環境省・日本エコツーリズムの「エコツーリズム大賞」において「優秀賞」を受賞しました。

　川端はほとんどが家庭の敷地内に自家湧水とともにあり、日常の暮らしの一部でもありますので勝手に見学することはできません。見学には「針江生水の郷委員会」に前日までに連絡して有料ボランティアガイド（見学者１人につき1,000円）の案内のもとに見学する必要があります。
