Y O Tahi Spit
The 2nd cache in the Opotiki Beach area (Thats all for now).Placed at the same time as Surf's up on the way to Opo for Father's Day but have not had the time to list it!!
There is not really any parking next to the cache so I would advise to park near the toilets and walk to the GZ.
Waiotahi Spit is also known locally as the Waiotahi Pipi Beds, you will see loads of people head down bums up digging around in the river for the shellfish known as the Pipi.
I remember coming here as a kid, one of the first times me and my sister's had tried fresh shell fish, we dug up a shoot load of them and made a fire right at the beach and opened them up on an old bit of roofing iron, it was a feast!! In fact I ate myself sick and can't really stand shellfish ever since.......
Enjoy the cache, this one is a 400Ml Sistema, refer to the hint if you dont want to explore the entire flax bush......
