Geocache Description:

Totally Tubular was a cache I found in Brevard County, Florida by a geocacher named Capaldo. His cache was an awesome multi that started with an ammo can full of potentially helpful tools. One who attempted the cache was to take the ammo can of tools (and a bottle of water) on a hike to various tubes located in a field. At each tube, one had to do his or her best MacGyver impersonation and figure out how to get a clue out of the tube. Once getting all of the clues from the tubes, one would be able to calculate the final coordinates for the multi. After signing the log and trading items, the finder then had to return the ammo can of tools back to the original location for the next geocacher(s) to use.

This cache is the start and end of nine in a series of caches relating to tubes. Like Capaldo's cache, I will provide you with a box of tools that may or may not be needed to help you get to the clues in the eight tubes hidden in the area. Like Capaldo's cache, it is recommended that you bring a spare bottle of water that may or may not help you with one or more of the tubes (OK, 16 ounces of water will help with one, and only one, tube). Like Capaldo's cache, the clues in all of the tubes will be needed to help you get to the finale. However, this cache will be different than Capaldo's in that all of the tubes are stand-alone caches. Each tube not only has a clue hidden within, but each tube also has a log sheet to sign. Yes, each tube has a log that will net you an individual smiley face, assuming you can get to the log and sign it.

Thus, after completing the series, one should walk away with nine smileys (There are eight different tubular puzzles and the final ammo box).

Here are the eight tubular puzzle caches:

I have experimented with many versions of these tubes. People who have attended either of the two In-Crowd Meet-and-Greets have solved similar puzzles to the ones I have placed out in the area. However, noone has ever been able to log a find for any of these puzzles. Here is their and/or your chance.

Most of the tubes are about a meter long, though some are smaller and some are cut up into multiple tubes. All tubes are camouflaged brown and or green. All are zip-tied to trees with black zip-ties. All tubes also have a colorful zip-tie located nearby. The colorful zip-tie will be located on a tree close to the point where I exited the main path. This may help you avoid getting cut up too bad. Please do not cut the ties or remove the tubes. Each tube puzzle may have hidden clues on its respective cache page. Sometimes titles may help. There are some red herrings there, though. If you can't figure out how to get the log, please call me. My number is 386-804-4816. It would really be uncool to ruin the puzzle for others. Don't let frustration get the best of you.

In order to find the final solution, you need to collect clues lettered A through H. Each letter clue is paired with a numeric clue. Use those numbers to find the location of the final ammo can here ...

Again, do not forget to bring at least a 16 oz. bottle of water for the series. It is recommended you bring more water for consumption in order to get through this approximately two-mile journey. One may hike or bike the trip. There are a few slight elevation changes, a few places where logs have fallen onto the paths, a few over grown branchs, a few ticks, biting horse flies, the possibility of mosquitoes, prickly vines, slicing palms, and more. I have seen armadillos, deer, raccoons, possoms, snakes, squirrels and more out here before, too.

I parked my truck off of Normandy and enetered the area at or near N28 56.036 W081 15.656. Please do not park in front of the likely-to-never-be-used fire hydrant!

A small path off the main sandy trail should lead you to the ammo box of tools. There is a long laminated tag in the tool box to leave for people who may arrive while you are on trail. Please leave that note at the location if you take the box. There is a whiteboard marker in the tool box that you may use to write your phone number on the tag if you wish. That way, cachers who show up while you are on trail may be able to communicate with you about joining up and/or how long the wait may be for the box to return. Please return the complete ammo box of tools back to the starting location on your way out and remember to put the tag back in the box.

There are many things that could go wrong with this cache. Please call me if something goes missing, gets broken, etc. My number is 386-804-4816.

I hope you choose to enjoy life daily, and I hope you get a kick out of this series.

As always, take care and On-On!

-No Blow

PS Thanks to Zyfenhinger for being the tortured beta tester for this series. Thanks for Musturd and Bobblehead for not complaining too much and not asking to be carried while hiking to all of the tubes. You three are troopers!

PPS Let me know if any of coordinates are way off. I used a Garmin 60CSx and a Colorado, but things seemed shaky at times, even after averaging hundreds of times.
