Žagarėje Švėtės krante atodanga driekiasi apie 50 m. Jos aukštis 3 m. Atodangoje aiškiai matyti dolomitų su gipso priemaišomis klodai. Kažkada čia buvo dolomitų karjeras, tad vietovė duobėta, apaugusi įvairia augmenija. Dolomitinė atodanga geologiniu gamtos paminklu paskelbta 1964 m. 1985 m. priskirta respublikinės reikšmės paminklams. Dolomitas – nuosėdinė uoliena, sudaryta iš to paties pavadinimo mineralo dolomito. Iš šios uolienos pastatyta Senosios Žagarės bažnyčia. Dolomitų karjere netoli žemės paviršiaus slūgsantieji dolomitai buvo kasami dar prieš Antrąjį pasaulinį karą ir iš jų buvo degamos magnezitinės kalkės. 1950 ir 1953 m. šį telkinį žvalgė geologai, kurie nustatė, kad čia dolomitų storis vidutiniškai yra apie 10 m, o jų atsargos apie 6,5 mln. tonų, iš jų 4,2 mln. tonų dolomitų, tinkamų kalkėms gaminti, ir 2,2 mln. tonų, tinkamų keliams tiesti. Šeštame dešimtmetyje čia kasmet buvo iškasama apie 20 tūkst. tonų dolomitų keliams tiesti ir apie 15 tūkst. tonų kalkėms gaminti. Šiuo metu telkinys neeksploatuojamas.
