Antonio - Male Tufted Titmouse
We are realeasing a set of caches either in memory or in honor (still living) of all our many pets. We have had many (OK, too many) over the years. We'll probably just hit our favorites as I alone have had far too many hampsters, Guinea Pigs, and reptiles over the years............
Antonio - A male tufted titmouse - Shelly didn't think that was the real name of that type of bird (It is), she just thought I liked saying it.
Antonio was not really our pet, but a wild bird that started visiting our window box birdfeeder shortly after I was homebound by injuring my knee. I tore-up my knee pretty bad, and could not do stairs, so I resided for a few weeks on our den's couch. The window overlooked the window box bird feeded. Antonio would visit often, sometime a dozen times a day. It was late spring/ early summer and mating season, I guess. There is 1 way glass (mirrored on their side) and Antonio would get into a territorial fight with himself everytime he would come for a sunflower seed. It was pretty funny seeing him multiple times a day flying against the mirror to scare the other bird (himself), then grab a seed, turn his back at the mirror, peck it open, eat it, and fly away.
Antonio did this every day from the end of March through the beginnig of June. I have not seen him in almost a week, and I fear he has flown the coup. I miss him already.
