Rusty Wheelers Investigation
Some years after the mysterious White and Parker case went cold, an older US Deputy Marshal named Rusty Wheeler who was relocating to northern California from southern Arizona thought he pieced the case together and may have solved the mystery.
Deputy Rusty Wheeler enjoyed his time serving as a lawman in the southern Arizona desert and was somewhat captivated with White and Parker case. From time to time he would take a crack at the case and even himself reported to have heard a laughing girl in the early morning hours while in the desert area where the mystery began.
Deputy Wheeler investigated the case in his spare time almost as a hobby. Wheelers liked to work a case backwards and in doing so he located a woman named Emily Parker who gave birth to a Rose Parker on March 12th 1907 near Prescott Arizona. Emily was married briefly to an unidentified man. He was only briefly mentioned in an old court document by his last name, that of Parker.
Wheeler believed that the man was Rose Maries father and rumors of his abuse were probably true. Deputy Wheeler also believed that Emily had not passed away while giving birth to Rose Marie. It was more than likely that the child was taken against Emilys will and quiet possibly in the night without her knowledge, by the father.
Deputy Wheeler speculated that Emilys abuse was such that she dare not fight back. He further speculated that she devised a plan to re-kidnap her daughter upon locating her whereabouts. He believed that this indeed took place but believed that she would have needed help in committing the act as well as covering her tracks.
Rusty Wheeler believed that none other than US Deputy Marshal Ethan White assisted Emily Parker. Deputy Wheeler speculated that Deputy White helped Emily escape the Rangers and even gave her his clothes to board a train en route to St. Joseph MO, posing as Ethan White herself.
Wheelers thought was that Emily tracked her husband to St Joseph MO, with Deputy Whites help, then pushed her husband in front of a train to end his reign of terror and keep him from inflicting further abuse. It’s speculated that Emily then headed back west to eventually meet up with Ethan who was most likely caring for Rose Marie in her mothers absence, which would no doubt be taxing on a man.
Deputy Wheelers only logical conclusion is that Ethan, Emily and Rose Marie possibly moved to San Francisco as indicated in the telegram by the letters “SF”.
Deputy Wheelers growing obsession with the case led him to transfer to northern California to continue his investigation. Deputy Wheeler never went on record with any other theories pertaining to the case and died an uneventful death as a retired US Deputy Marshal in the San Francisco area some years later.
Few questions left unanswered are more disturbing than this. If Rose Marie Parker was never kidnapped and killed in the Arizona desert around Maricopa then who or what is the LAUGHING GIRL that continues to haunt these parts?
