La nature a fait de la citadelle de Namur un endroit exceptionnel. Un éperon rocheux, de plan triangulaire, vient mourir au confluent d’une rivière et d’un fleuve. Au nord et au sud, des escarpements le rendent inaccessible. A l’ouest, un plateau peut être défendu et retranché aisément par un fossé ou une levée de terre ; d’où son appellation d’éperon barré.
La première mention d’une résidence fortifiée à la pointe de l’éperon date de 937.
A son apogée, au XIIIème siècle, le château comprend un corps de place flanqué de quatre tours (dont trois subsistent) ainsi que des bâtiments annexes.
Mais en 1746, au cours d’un des nombreux sièges qu’a connu la ville, la vieille collégiale Saint-Pierre-au-Château est détruite par l’explosion d’une poudrière, avec la moitié du donjon médiéval, laissant l’emplacement actuel de la cache « vide ».
La cache se trouve sur l'emplacement du Choeur de la collégiale. Pour la trouver, il faut se rendre à la position indiquée par la croix blanche aux coordonnées indiquées

The nature has made the citadel of Namur an exceptional place. North and south, the cliffs make the place inaccessible. To the west, a plateau can be easily defended and fortified by a ditch or embankment.
The first mention of a fortified residence dates from 937.
In its heyday in the thirteenth century, the castle is composed of four towers (three of which remain) and auxiliary buildings.
But in 1746, the old church of Saint-Pierre-au-Castle is destroyed by the explosion of a powder room, which impacted also the half of the medieval dungeon. This left the current location of the cache "empty".
The container is located at the exact place of the old choir. To find it, walk to the place of the white cross, visible on the map at the given coordinates.
