Vår biogasanläggning ligger vid Kungsängens gård. Här tar vi emot och behandlar matavfall från hushåll och företag. På så sätt kan näringsämnen gå tillbaka till naturen och energiinnehållet tas om hand. Kretsloppet är slutet. Varje år tar vi emot cirka 20 000 ton matavfall . Knappt hälften av matavfallet kommer från medborgare i Uppsala kommun. Vi tar även emot slakteriavfall. Resultatet blir biogas och biogödsel Produktionen av biogas sker i en syrefri miljö som med hjälp av bakterier bryter ner avfallet. Resultatet blir biogas som till största del används till drivmedel för bilar och stadsbussar, och en mindre del till uppvärmning. Av det som blir kvar efter produktionen framställer vi biogödsel.
Uppsala Water Plant
Our biogas plant is located at Kungsängens farm. Here we receive and deal with food waste from households and businesses. This allows nutrients to go back to nature and the energy content is taken care of. The circle is closed. Each year we receive approximately 20 000 tonnes of food waste. Just under half of the food waste comes from the citizens of the municipality of Uppsala. We also accept abattoir waste. The result, biogas and digestate. The production of biogas is done in an oxygen free environment using bacteria to break down the waste. The result is biogas, which largely are used for fuel for cars and buses, and a smaller amount for heating. From the residue we produce bio-fertilizer.
