The Hands of Volunteers Traditional Cache

NIBBL: Looks like Alice had enough of us coming to the Cemetery and drawing attention to the big contraversy of the stones hidden on her property. Dont think it would be a good idea to replace the container just to have her take it again.[:(]

Geocache Description:

Estherville cemetery just outside of Port Burwell.

IN HONOUR OF THE FOUNDERS OF BAYHAM and In memory of Joseph Merrill: In 1835, Joseph Merrill donated land to the Trustees of the Baptist Meeting House to build a church and a cemetery. In the 1960s, headstones and monuments were moved from Estherville Cemetery to the present cairn area when discarded bases and stones were used for stabilization fill along the Little and Big Otter Creeks. Some headstones were used as paths and patios in private gardens, and many stones cannot be recovered yet. In 2008, the Pilgrims of Estherville began locating and retrieving stones which were brought home to Estherville in 2010.
