SLO: Babno Polje je poznano kot najhladnejša vas v Sloveniji. Snežnik, kotlina, panomski zrak in visoka nadmorska višina povzročijo zelo ekstremne temperature.
Uradno zabeležen rekord mraza je bil -34,5°C leta 1965, neuradno pa celo -39,6°C leta 1929. Zaradi mrazu rastline kasneje obrodijo sadove, pa tudi ljudje so omejeni glede uspevanja zelenjave.
Babno Polje je poznano tudi po mejnem prehodu s Hrvaško.
Ljudje se tu ukvarjajo s poljedeljstvom in živinorejo. Imajo vse, kar vas potrebuje: gasilski dom, lovce, manjšo trgovino, kmečki turizem in Snežnik.
