Can't get there from here... Traditional Cache

sinwyrm: Everyone says it's missing, so it must be. I tried to let it ride in hopes people could enjoy this one, but I no longer live in CT or anywhere near the east coast anymore so maintenance is not an option for me. Freeing up the location, its been fun. Come say hi to me if you ever get out to Groundspeak HQ, I'm not far from there.

Geocache Description:

A quick park-and-grab near Saint Philip Cemetery in Ashford.

My son and I were trying to get to Ashford Memorial Park to grab a cache, but we ran into some difficulty. First we tried to approach from Mansfield Rd(Rt 89) and quickly discovered that wasn't going to work as it is all private residences.

We circled around to try and find a sign we might have missed back on Pompey Hollow Rd (Rt 44), or perhaps an alternate road. We took a wrong turn and started down someone's long driveway a bit before realizing we didn't want to be there. Ever try backing out onto a road this busy? Not fun.

After making what we thought was the correct turn from there, we parked and started a short hike past Saint Philip Cemetery and a baseball field. Things were looking good and four tenths of a mile wasn't that far to go to reach the cache we wanted. Too bad we hit a solid wall of vegetation and a small pond about halfway there! We had no choice but to turn back and find a another road that would take us around.

We finally did make it to Ashford Memorial Park, but as the cache name says: you can't get there from here. AshtonFG and I decided to leave a cache on this side in case anyone is as inept as us at making the approach to a cache. If you try to get there from here, at least now you'll have a smiley for your efforts.
