7.15. Archive or unarchive a geocache
Archiving a geocache is meant to be a permanent action. Only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ can unarchive caches. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if the cache meets the current geocaching guidelines.

If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

I have known this land was here for many years but have never before come this close. However I had something that seemed like an interesting cache hide and so needed somewhere relative to hide it.

The cache is NOT live so please do not be alarmed!

Please take some care with log removal as the cache container can be tricky to separate!
Happy caching :)

The Elizabeth North Training Depot is Commonwealth land as it is owned by the Department of Defence.

The area is approximately 33 hectares in size.

Back in 2007, the future of many Defence Force Bases was considered under the Force Disposition Program. This program was established to consider proposals for base collocation aimed at creating larger, more operationally effective and cost efficient military bases around Australia.

The Government continued to review the studies which were conducted in relation to the remaining bases under consideration through the Force Disposition Program. These bases were Defence Establishment Berrimah in the Northern Territory, Borneo Barracks in South Queensland, and Elizabeth North Training Depot, Hampstead Barracks and Keswick Barracks, all in South Australia.  Given the size and complexity of this review of Defence basing, and the costs involved in future Defence estate planning, the Defence-prepared studies, along with other considerations, continued to be reviewed and were considered by the Government as part of the 2008/09 Budget deliberations.

Consequently, the Elizabeth North Training Depot is currently considered to be 'surplus property' and it is expected that around 2013 to 2014 this land will be sold off.

Yet another housing development in the north, I assume!
