This cache has been archived.

Nikrmana: Unfortunately there's been some continuing issues with this cache and there is no reaction from the owner. Thus as there is no option to replace the cache, I am archiving it. I'm also archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, please contact Geo Sova or Nikrmana by send email from their profile, with a cache GC number included. Assuming cache meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Nekoliko zanimljivih činjenica o Jurjevskoj ulici u Zagrebu:
U Jurjevskoj ulici, koja od Ilirskog trga vodi prema Cmroku i Šestinama, živjeli su Antun Gustav Matoš, Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, Oktavijan Miletić ...
Godine 1845.
Negdašnje Jurjevsko groblje i perivoj s kapelom Sv.

A few interesting facts about Jurjevska ulica (St. George’s Street) in Zagreb:

  • many famous Croatian people like Antun Gustav Matoš, Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, Oktavijan Miletić etc. lived in this street, which leads from Illyrian Square (Ilirski trg) to the very popular public park Cmrok and Gornje Prekrižje Street and further to Šestine
  • in the year 1845, 13 “innocent victims of St. Marco’s Square” were buried at St George’s Cemetery, followed with a funeral procession of 4000 sad and angry citizens of Zagreb
  • in the year 1873, Ivan Dežman’s funeral, the biggest funeral procession in history led by one Croatian “ban”, Ivan Mažuranić, from the house in Mesnička Street, through Demetrova Street and across Kipni Square (known as Ilirski trg) to St. Georges Cemetery
  • by the ordinances, cemetery was not allowed to change for 30 years, until the year 1906 when the area around the chapel started to be tidied up and rearranged to become one of Zagreb parks, St George’s Park (Jurjev perivoj)
  • at the crossroads of Mlinarska and Jurjevska Street, Vatroslav Lisinski’s bust is set up
  • after the crossroads with the Mlinarska Street, the northern side of the Jurjevska Street is full of old villas, one of which was residency of Vladimir Bakarić, Tito’s soldier and revolutionist
  • the former St George’s Cemetery and park became the Park of the July Victims (Perivoj srpanjskih žrtava), dedicated to the victims of the St Marco’s Square from the year 1845
