Une série sur les petits détails du Fort de Malonne

Le Fort de Malonne fait partie de la ceinture de 9 forts construits autour de Namur à la fin du XIXème siècle.

Tout le monde ne combattait pas à l’intérieur d’un fort. Des troupes devaient sortir pour défendre les axes d’approches et autres points faibles de la position lorsque l’ennemi menaçait.

Pour les aider, des tranchées ont été creusées dont les traces sont encore visibles aujourd’hui.
En particulier dans cette petite vallée où l’ennemi pouvait approcher à couvert directement de l’entrée du Fort.

De Fort van Malonne behoort tot een reeks van 9 forten gebouwd rond Namen op het einde van de negentiende eeuw, met de Citadelle als Hoofdkwartier.

Iedereen was niet aan het vechten in een fort of een bunker. Troepen moesten buiten gaan om de zwakke punten of tussen intervallen te verdedigen. Om de infanterie te beschermen werden greppels gegraven waarvan sporen nog steeds zichtbaar zijn.

Vooral in deze kleine vallei waar de vijand direct de ingang van de Fort onder dekking mocht bereiken.

De Fort of Malonne is part of the belt of 9 forts built in the late nineteenth century around Namur, with the Citadelle as the Command Post.

Not everyone was fighting inside a fort of in a bunker. Troops needed to go outside in order to defend the approaches and weaknesses of the position when the enemy threatened. As cover trenches were dug in the woods whose traces are still visible today.

Especially in this little valley where the enemy could approach directly to the entrance of Fort under cover.
