Geocache Description:

A fun, not-so-little, cache dedicated to DANANDTINA05 and DOUGANDCINDY09, and all the other cachers who love to get out and do a "lunch-time" cache run!

When I first began placing caches a little over a year ago I began to get logs from DANANDTINA05 and DOUGANDCINDY09 who were out doing "lunch-time runs." A few months ago I ran across Dan and Doug while out searching for a cache and indeed they were out spending their lunch "hour" looking for caches.
As a physical educator I love geocaching for its ability to get people up and moving. As unfortunate as it is - as adults we spend 90% of our leisure time sitting!
I started to think about the health benefits of Dan and Doug's "lunch-time runs."
These numbers are averages and estimates but here is what I come up with:
52 weeks in a year - minus 2 weeks for vacation
50 weeks for lunch runs
let's say they only go out 4 out of 5 days per week to be conservative
So that is 200 "lunch-time" runs per year
Of those 200 lunch time runs let's say they spend 40 minutes walking/hiking.
A 150 pound person will burn about 200 calories walking at a brisk pace and about 280 while hiking.
Let's assume that Doug and Dan geohike for 40 minutes and use about 240 calories.
If they do 200 lunch runs and burn 240 calories each time they go out that comes to a total of 48,000 calories per year.
A pound is approximately 3500 calories so in a year Dan and Doug will burn approximately 13.7 pounds while out doing " lunch-time runs!"
Those numbers are just estimates but are reflective as to the calorie burn associated with walking/hiking - not to mention the health benefits to other body systems.
Lunch-time cache runs are an excellent way to maintain levels of fitness.

So do what Dan and Doug do - enjoy those lunch-time cache runs - and keep fit the geocaching way!

You are seeking a regular-sized cache with plenty of room for trackables and other trinkets.

Dan and Doug get first opportunity for FTF so no logs until after they post!
