Loop Option: Begin your hike at the parking area off Chuckanut Drive, near the entrance to Larrabee State Park. Follow the forested trail up to the lake, around the lake, and then back out on an old fire road for a 5.5 mile hike.

The Route: After approximately .08 mile, check out the short side trail to the left. The 0.2 mile spur leads up to an overlook and provides views of Samish Bay, Lummi Island, and the San Juan Islands.

At 1.9 miles from the trailhead, there is a bicycle barricade. Go left to Fragrance Lake. Hike the trail around the entire lake (less than a mile), where there are several opportunities to take a break for a snack or to stop and enjoy the beauty of Fragrance Lake. The lake is ringed with huge cedars and firs crowding the shore -- a peaceful reflection to enjoy. To continue your hike, head back to the bicycle barricade, turning left to reach the old fire road. Hike the fire road back down to the parking area.

Letterbox Instructions: Look for a trail intersection sign with the following information: Fragrance Lake --> .2 mile; <-- Chuckanut Drive 1.8 miles. Follow the route towards the lake. Upon reaching a fork at approximately .2 miles, stay to the right; walk around the lake in a counter-clockwise direction. After crossing the second footbridge, begin searching for the Letterbox Hybrid cache on the left side of the trail (refer to hint).
