Trinity Markers Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The TRINITY MARKERS CACHE is located near three historical markers standing sentinel along River Road West in Goochland County. There is plenty of room to pull off on the side of the road. However, be very careful of driving muggles when you get out of your car. Children should stay in the car on this cache!
Three historical markers stand near the westbound lane of River Road West (Rt. 6) in Goochland County between Georges Tavern and Goochland Courthouse. Enjoy beautiful Virginia while you think about some of the history of the area.
The Bolling Hall SA-35 marker commemorates Colonel William Bolling's elegant home built near the James River. Colonel Bolling was a county justice, a militia officer in the War of 1812, and a legislator. As the father of two deaf children, Colonel Bolling established the first school for deaf children in the United States in 1815.
A few steps away is the Bolling Island SA-36 mansion marker. It was erected to recall a two-story Greek Revival style mansion built on a bend of the James River overlooking Bolling Island. Thomas Bolling, son of Colonel William Bolling, completed the mansion between 1771 and 1830.
The Dungeness SA-11 marker was placed to commemorate the home built by Isham Randolph, maternal grandfather to Thomas Jefferson (third President of the United States) and James Pleasants (22nd Governor of Virginia). Isham Randolph had nine children and through them was also related to other prominent and historical figures, including Archibald Cary, Benjamin Harrison V, Carter Henry Harrison III, and Carter Henry Harrison IV.
Stroll and read the Trinity Markers. This is a small cache so bring your own pen/pencil. FTF picks up a $2 bill (after all, Thomas Jefferson was Isham's grandson)! Congrats to The-Booty-Hunters for FTF!!!
