Geocache Description:

The cache is at the listed coordinates.

But to sign the log you must either have your GPS unit attuned to the chirping of the Ephemeral Hummingbird of Geocaching Happiness or you must answer two questions while travelling to the edge of the land of the Warden and his very troubled people.

The Ephemeral Hummingbird of Geocaching Happiness is chirping nearby. It is trying to talk to you through your GPSr. Can your GPSr hear it? If your GPSr is not receptive to the EHGH's karmic chirping, you will have to go on a vision quest up river.

The variety of GPSrs that can hear the EHGH's call might surprise you.  To lessen the chance that this cache will disturb your calm, before coming here try meditating on the Internet for the firmware patch that will max out your unit's grooviness.


Steps to open the box if your unit is not sufficiently enlightened to hear the chirp
  • Measure your Cat-Bird Vision at the Measuring Device (N 38° 40.801 W 121° 10.677 ):
    Look for a measuring device
    and take note of the
    highest possible reading.
    Throw away any fraction.
    (Hint: the answer has 3 letters when spelled the old way.)

  • Fly upriver between the Cliffs of Insanity to Test Your Wing Strength (N 38° 41.368 W 121° 10.020):
    Take note of the Warden's reason for why you cannot go further up river. Also note the number of cables that might be holding up his placard. Don't fly too far. You don't want to be a jail bird.

    Please be careful. It is inconceivable that anyone could escape the water by climbing the Cliffs of Insanity!


  • Upon your return to the nest: The number you need is the warden's reason plus the number of cables plus the number you got at the measuring device. Put a symbolic egg in front as a gesture of appreciation to the Hummingbird's hospitality.

Please remember to lock the box, randomize the settings on the lock, and leave the box tilted in a way that might help the lock stay dry. Thanks.
