About a month ago, my youngest came home from school and proudly proclaimed his first wiggly tooth. It was just barely wiggling. And he begged that I pull it right away so he could put it under his pillow and the tooth fairy could bring him money! I had to talk him out of pulling it, explaining that it was not quite ready.
Today, when the sun was just barely up, he jumped onto my bed to wake me up. He was grinning from ear to ear and had something tiny in his hand. He told me he pulled his tooth! He was SO excited! Before we tucked him into bed, we asked him what he was going to do with it. He said even though he would really like to keep it, he is going to put it under his pillow and the tooth fairy is going to come to get it. He explained she is invisible and has wings. It is her job to collect all of the teeth in her basket. Then she takes them to where Santa Claus lives & puts them in a big pile. And what does Santa do with them? Well, he makes things with them of course! When asked what she would leave behind in place of the tooth, Deklan said he thinks it will be $100. But he isn't going to spend it yet...he plans to save it until he has collected the money from three teeth before he decides what to buy! As we tucked him in and kissed him goodnight, he said we should call this cache "Deklan lost a tooth, really!!!"
I think if the tooth fairy leaves him $100, I will start pulling my own teeth!
