Geocache Description:

A micro sized cache containing logbook and pencil, placed off the path in Nelson Mandela Park. The area is well troden so no geocache trails to follow

The park was named in 1986 in support of Nelson Mandela, whom at that time was a prisioner of South Africa. He was released after 27 years in 1990, after increased political pressure from around the world, and in 1994 became the first black president of the country. 'Free Nelson Mandela' was a song written by the Coventry band 'The Special A.K.A in support of the protest movement to have him released.

Ironically, this Leicester park is situated next door to HM Prision Leicester.

The park contains a well equipped play area and public toilets.
