The idea is from a fellow CVGA cache member NPGlenn.
We figured it would be fun to make a challenge that no one has completed yet nation wide. Many have had over 1000 caches in a day, hit every county in a state or delorme, 10 caches types in a day etc etc.
But this cache will challenge your planning skills, teamwork(if you have a team), and equipment. What is the largest number of states you can cache in a 24 hour period?
The states can be any of the 50 you choose. Really! Start where you want at midnight and roll for 24 hours. Who has the better skills of mapping, finding and teamwork?
This cache will take hours of planning and a few solid days of the cachers' lives who want to complete it. A team of at least three is recommended for safety reasons.
To log this cache you must do the following.
1. Your clock begins at Midnight and goes 24 hours.
2. Time zones adjusting back time do not count.
3. You must sign and log a cache in every state that you want to count.
4. At the end of your 24 hours you are done.
5. Keep track of how many miles driven
6. Post a list of states in your log and date.
7. You cannot break speed limits. This is not the cannonball run.
8. And no BS of one person finding a cache while another person is in another car one state away. Only one vehicle can be used and a whole team must ride in it for the whole 24 hours.
Point System (added just for fun, but to rank those that try hard)
So far:
10 points for every state in the 24 hours.
3 points for every member on your team if you have one
1 point for every 100 miles driven
2 points for every time zone crossed once
5 points for posting the journey updates on a blog (blog must be listed in the final log and visible)
5 points for posting a map of your route in your log.
3 points for any lvl 5 caches found
The cache container is located in Richmond, VA for two reasons. I live there, and it is central on the east coast, which is probably the only area where you can pull this off with the most states. You can sign it before or after your adventure.
