Geocache Description:

QUIET SCOTCH NUBBIN

Twisting roads, stellar views, and a quiet stately old neighborhood that can't make up it's mind what to be called...welcome to Scotch Nubbin.

In 1852 Amos Nahum King and his wife Melinda Fuller King purchased 513 acres on the east side of the Tualatin mountains. Amos worked at, and eventually owned, a tannery along a creek (Tanner Creek, natch) at the present site of Jeld-Wen Field. They sold off town lots for the Goose Hollow neighborhood, and a further 40 acres (at $800 an acre) of their property to the city of Portland for its first city park, now known as Washington Park.

The land up in the heights was kept in timber and became known as King's Heights. In 1914, the first planned community above Westover was terraced out of a steep section (streets were named for Melinda and her children) and the area was rechristened "Scotch Nubbin". That charming moniker slipped out of fashion, and today it is simply known as Hillside. What were they thinking?

This is a quick and easy multi.
