In August 2012 the UK Mega Event is coming to Cartmel in Cumbria. This is one of a diverse series of supporting event being held around the Mega Event. This event is hosted by Ade (The Imp) who is holding a few events as he travels from Lincolnshire both to and from the Mega.

Calling All Road Travellers. - Mini Event Location.
This event is being held as a respite as you travel up the M6 Motorway. Its being held at Burton Service Station, so it's on route before the final slog to the campsite or other accommodation you have chosen in the Lake District. If the weather hold out for the event, we will meet outside the front doors (preferred meeting place). If not, you will find us inside. Either way, look out for the ugly bloke with a beard wearing a very brightly coloured shirt. The logbook will be on the table, and its all informal, so write what you like in it as a memoir. (Just keep it clean)
Enjoy a cuppa, maybe a sandwich, chat a bit and head off when you like feeling refreshed and with another event under your belt before the big-one!
The events venue, has a children's play area, so they can burn off some of that unspent energy. I will also be laying on a couple of games to keep them occupied (under mum or dads supervision please) while you take a breather from there constant "Are we there yet"? questions. There is an area by the side of the Travelodge which is grassed and I am sure our 4 legged buddies can go walkies here.
Attached to this page is a colouring competition. Maybe your children may like to colour it in during there trip. Just get them to write there name and age plus there caching team name on the reverse.

The winner will be picked when the event closes, but if your the lucky one and have left the event, don't worry as the prize will be at the Mega Event for collection. The prize is a children's goodie bag with loads of loot and swaps inside!

If you are already in the area you can just pop in. There are a few nearby caches to do (see below).

There is ample parking for cars and caravans, motorbikes, trucks etc, and no need to turn around as you can just pull off without any problems. Free parking for up to 2 hours (chargeable after then). There is a picnic area, children's play area, a few shops/petrol stn and a cache machine if you left your wallet at home (woops, I meant cash machine..sorry!).
If you fancy getting off the motorway for good, there is a link road from the Service Station, that will take to to the A6. From here you can drive on a quieter road all the way to join the A590 and then into the Lake District. See me at the venue for detailed instructions to take the quiet route or blow up the map at the bottom of this page and view it yourself. The route passes the no through barrier and joins Tarn Lane. I have enquired with Travelodge who own the road, and they say its ok to use it..
