Conhecido também como Museu do Ipiranga, é parte do conjunto arquitetônico do Parque da Independência. É o mais importante museu da Universidade de São Paulo e um dos mais visitados da capital paulista. É responsável por um grande acervo de objetos, mobiliário e obras de arte com relevância histórica, especialmente aquelas que possuem alguma relação com a Independência do Brasil e o período histórico correspondente. Uma das obras mais conhecidas de seu acervo é o quadro de 1888 do artista Pedro Américo, "Independência ou Morte".

Na minha opinião um lugar muito agradável de visitar, principalmente quando se fica para o por do sol em um dia bonito. Muitos pássaros, fonte, um belo jardim, uma bela vista. Para quem gosta de correr ou caminhar, existe um trajeto de exatamente 1km ao redor do museu por um bosque muito tranqüilo, agradável e seguro. Com sorte é possível achar alguns macaquinhos nas árvores. Tudo isto bem perto do centro da cidade.
Nos finais de semana o parque da indepêndencia fica lotado, o que pode dificultar a procura do cache.
Para encontrar o cache, não é necessário visitar o museu (embora eu recomende a visita).

De terça-feira a domingo, das 9h00 às 17h00.
A entrada no museu é gratuita no primeiro domingo de cada mês e para menores de 6 anos ou maiores de 60 anos.

In my opinion a very nice place to visit, especially when it gets into the sunset on a beautiful day. Many birds, fountain, a beautiful garden, a beautiful view. For those who enjoy jogging or walking, there is a path of exactly 1km around the museum as a forest very quiet, pleasant and safe. With luck is possible to find some monkeys in the trees. All this close to the city center.
On weekends the park is crowded, which may hinder the search for the cache.
To find the cache, it is not necessary to visit the museum (even though I recommend a visit).
