All the Island Spirit Legacy Caches are within a 2 steps of the trail, unless otherwise noted. There is no need to bushwack or trample the vegetation.
Pioneers
August 18th, 1862 a very brave group of settlers landed in Cowichan Bay having travelled all the way from Europe. They had no idea what type of journey they were about to embark on as they were the very first group of Pioneers to settle in the area. There were about 100 settlers in the group, ready to clear land, build houses, create farms and eventually a life and and family in the Cowichan Valley. Not all of them stayed, but what an adventure into the unknown they must have had. If only we could sit down with a cup of tea and listen to their stories today.
