This cache is part of the “Mid North Coast Wander” series of 201 caches. The series will take you on a magnificent journey highlighting this spectacular region. Starting at the base of Middle Brother and finishing at Pilots Beach Dunbogan; this 160 km trail is truly quite stunning and we are sure you will have a wonderful time touring the area.

The Notches you can see in the trees along this trail are known as "springboard notches". They were cut in to allow the timber feller to fell the tree from up a bit higher on the trunk. This was done for a few reasons -
To get above the undergrowth, or in colder areas to get above the snowline!
The lower timber was often of poor quality.
And to avoid the (wait for it)BUTT SWELL.
