My two cents on BRAC '93 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Eireannach: Without much fanfare, and just as NAS Barbers Point had been officially decommissioned, I cased the cache's official colors. No band, no bag pipes. Just a quiet ceremony which follows in the footsteps of the cache before it. Cache is now officially RETIRED.

Geocache Description:

A tricky hunt for some of you. Finally able to place one of my shenanigan filled caches of leprechaun misery after a long search on the island. Good luck!

I now call this area: NAS Twilight Zone. I'll let your caching mind mull over that title until you run into me.

Originally, I was introduced to geocaching back in 2007 while out with a good friend of mine who was taking a summer break from Canoe U (Annapolis/Naval Academy for you civilians). His girlfriend was actually with us and she exclaimed in an abrupt manner as we were approaching the former base chapel, 'STOP THE CAR! THERE'S A GEOCACHE!" So, we pulled over and parked while she darted on over to look for something that I thought (at the time), was some anticlimactic game. Apparently, she never found the cache though, judging from the log history.

So, flashing forward to the present day, the 21st day of June in the year of our Lord 2012, while out on my way to the USCG Hideaway Club, I decided to put a cache out here for nostalgia sake. The area has transformed so much over the past 2 decades, that I can barely recall what it looked like before BRAC 1993. The area has now become the boondocks! Tall weeds and mounds of trash now litter the idle grounds. This site should prove to be a treasure trove of information for you military history buffs.

For those interested in current military news, this article, will provide a little insight to the potential military future of this decommissioned Naval Air Station. Be sure to take a journey, to NAS Twilight Zone, while you still have a chance!

WARNING: This site may bring about a case of déjà vu for the "old guard of cachers."

Make your mark if you go out. I take pleasure in DNF logs too!
