A highlight of the Wander is this view over the Manning River valley from Newbys Lookout.
Route note
MNCW caches in the range 102 to 110 are along Juhles Mountain Road and Northern Access Road in the Lansdowne State Forest. There are remains of “forest giants” which were logged many decades ago; you never see trees of this girth nowadays. Logging operations still take place in this area so you will need to take care and observe operational and safety signs posted by Forests NSW.
There are many forestry roads and secondary trails along here and all caches are placed near convenient pull-offs. The condition of the road varies, in places, according to the weather and recent traffic, but is mostly quite manageable.
Be aware that, between caches 103 and 105, there are two places which can become slippery and deeply rutted after wet weather. At times they may not be suitable for 2WD vehicles so exercise your discretion.
In one cache box in this range you will find a code number needed to allow you to calculate the coordinates of the final cache 201.
