Washington Mo. History #1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

*gln: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving your cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near
future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Many Thanks,

Geocache Description:

This is the first of a series of caches highlighting historic places in Washington, Missouri.

This particular cache overlooks Busch Creek, formerly known as Dubois Creek.  In October 1864 General Sterling Price entered Washington and plundered the town for food and supplies.  The Confederates made their way to the home of beer baron John B. Busch (currently the location of the VFW) and his brewery.  The soldiers after having their fill dumped the remaining barrels of beer into the creek.   '

You do not have to leave the sidewalk to reach this cache.  It is located on a public right of way.  Do not attempt to park next to GZ.
