Geocache Description:

Enjoy the scenic drive high on the hill.

The original idea for a memorial tower to "The Pioneers of Daylesford and District" was to aquire and relocate a poppet head frame from the nearby Ajax Mine but lack of funds delayed the project. Persistence and patience paid off, more funds were raised through contributions from the community and the sale of buttons with a picture of the tower on them. A change from poppet legs to a concrete Tower was suggested by Cr. Martin. The Tower cost £1028 to build and it is 74 feet high.
