Visit Ytterøya. A very nice island in Trondheimsfjorden
Ytterøy is a very beautiful Island in Trondheimsfjorden. It is about 13.5 km long and 4.5 km wide. Highest point is Korshylla (215 mas). Ytterøya is connected to the mainland by ferry from Levanger. The ferry takes about 30 minutes. As the ferry is quite expensive, it is recommended to go by bike. Ytterøy has a very interesting mining history. Minining activity are dated back to 1636. Pyrite and Chalcopyrite were the main minerals mined here. The cache is located in the mining area, and information signs about the history of Ytterøy Gruver are abundant.
