Ruby Trail 2 : What a Jewel!
On the Ruby Trail, next stop............
Following the farm track the walk is now in much more open countryside with breathtaking views to the south. Sheep are usually grazing in the fields either side of the rough unmade road so it is a good idea to keep dogs on a lead here.
Continue on the farm track as far as a deer fence and ladder stile. Do not cross the cattle grid but turn left just before the fence, over a small stile. The ground underfoot can be quite boggy after clearing this hurdle, as is the terrain in the fields ahead.
Fallow deer will often be seen in the field beyond the deer fence. The farm track also gives further wide views to Dartmoor.
Before reaching the style & deer fence you will be searching for a 35mm film canister secured on the cattle grid fencing. Please ensure it's well hidden after signing the log. A small pencil is provided.
