A simple cache in central Leicester. Easy to complete in your lunch hour, so grab your sandwich and take a stroll to this plesant part of Leicester. Cache is a magnetic nano.
While your in the area, take the time to check out 'The Guildhall', one of the countries best preserved timber framed halls, which is over 600 years old! Its just around the corner.
The Guildhall was built in 1380 and has had many varied uses over its long life. Originally a meeting place for the Guild of Corpus Christi, over the years it was used as a library, a Mayors parour, court room, theatre, banqueting hall, civic centre, police headquaters, prison and school!
After all those years and roles, it became very dilapidated and was almost torn down, before being saved in 1926 when it underwent a major restoration programme and was turned into a museum.
Today, the Guildhall is still a museum, owned & run by the city council. It is also also a performance venue for comedy, music and theatre and can be privately hired. Its open from Sunday-Wednesday and is worth a quick visit while you are caching.
The building is special to me because in 2006 I hired it myself, for my wedding :D
