This Chain Shop is the only in a row of chain shops. It was in the back yard of the house in Ladysmith Road. This was typical of how Black Country chainmakers worked.
At the top of the gulley was the High Town Ragged School opened in 1863. Many poor people with no connection to church attended the Ragged School. Men, women and children were given the opportunity to learn to read and write.
The cache is a micro. Please stealth or the cache be muggled. Unclip it and take it away to log. Many people use this lane. The people of Cradley in the Black Country are very proud of their heritage. A Cradley Trail with some 71 stops has been created by the Cradley Then and Now society. This series of caches has followed just a few of the Cradley Trail locations where caches could safely be placed. You can download the historical trail to learn more at this location: http://www.cradleylinks.co.uk/cradley-trail.htm
