St. Michael
Auf dem Weg von Kastelruth über den Panider Sattel nach St. Ulrich im Grödnertal kommt man an der Ortschaft St. Michael vorbei.
St. Michael (ladinisch San Michiel) und der Panider Sattel (Pinei) bilden die Grenze des vorwiegend deutsch besiedelten Kastelruther Hochlandes zum Grödnertal, das zum ladinischen Sprachraum gehört. St. Michael ist eine Streusiedlung, die etwa 100 Einwohner zählt und deren Mittelpunkt die romanische Kiche zum Hl. Michael bildet. Sie liegt auf ca. 1280 m Meereshöhe östlich der Siedlung Tiosels.
Wer eine Wanderung von Kastelruth zum Panider Sattel unternimmt, kommt an St. Michael vorbei. Von hier aus lassen sich auch Touren hoch auf den Puflatsch und auf die Seiser Alm starten.

Sulla strada che da Castelrotto porta attraverso il Passo Pinei a Ortisei in Val Gardena, si arriva alla piccola località di San Michele.
San Michele (San Michiel, in ladino) ed il Passo Pinei costituiscono il limite dell’area prevalentemente germanofona del comune di Castelrotto. Oltre il passo, prevale la lingua dei ladini, popolazione autoctona della Val Gardena e delle altre valli dolomitiche. San Michele è un insediamento di tipo sparso, al centro del quale si trova la chiesa romanica dedicata proprio a San Michele, a quota 1280 metri.
Chi intraprende una escursione da Castelrotto verso Passo Pinei, giungerà anche a San Michele. Da qui partono anche percorsi verso la Bullaccia e l’Alpe di Siusi.

San Michele
On the road to Castelrotto via Passo Pinei towards Ortisei in Valgardena, you pass the village of San Michele.
San Michele, in Ladin language called San Michiel and the Passo Pinei represent the border between the mainly German-speaking area of Castelrotto and the Valgardena valley, which belongs to the Ladin-speaking area. San Michele is a scattered settlement that has some 100 inhabitants, its centre is the Romanesque S. Michele church. It is located at 1,280 m asl in the east of the settlement of Tiosels.
Those who walk from Castelrotto to Passo Pinei, pass the village of San Michele. From this place you can also do great hiking tours to the Bullaccia and Alpe di Siusi.
