Geocache Description:

Historically Earl has meant “chieftain of a territory.” Earl Peak definitely has its own presence and is one of the higher peaks in the Wenatchee Mountains.  Located in the Teanaway area outside of Cle Elum, Earl peaks out at 7036 ft.  The hike is between 7 and 8 miles roundtrip with approximately 3400 ft gain in elevation.  I went up when the approach to the pass still had a fair amount of snow so I took the winter ascent bypassing the buried switchbacks so summer milage may vary. If you want an early season summit hike, once at the pass the final ascent on Earl was entirely snowfree.  Views from the top are quite something.

You are looking for an ammo can hidden just below the summit in a crack in the rocks.  Please recover well so as to avoid detection from others.  There is a summit register just a few more feet up so be sure to sign that as well.

To access the trail, head towards Beverly Campground (well signed) and turn 1/4 mile before the campground on the Beverly-Bean Trailhead road.  Once on the trail, follow the Bean Creek trail up.  There are a few creek crossings, the first one being the most challenging.  Once in the basin, the trail crosses the creek again and heads up to the pass.
