This cache is named in honor of our loyal yellow Labrador Retriever, Trooper. He came camping with us at Dolly Sods and hiked more than 11 miles and led the way the entire way. I've been coming to Dolly Sods since a teenager and love the beautiful scenery but was disappointed by the few number of caches in the area. I decided to help change that by leaving one.
To access this cache you can either walk from Red Creek Campground or park at the trailhead nearby. It should take 5 minutes or less to walk to the location of the cache. You are looking for a small, black plastic container.
The contents are few due to the size. Because the area is in high use by the Brooks Bird Club during the fall, please make sure you carefully rehide it to ensure it does not get muggled. Once you do that, stop, turn around and take in all the beautiful scenery!
