A walk around Walton's Backwaters, which feature in Arthur Ransome 's children's story Secret Water.
You are now at the landward end of the causeway, known as the Wade, that crosses to Horsey Island, navigable by vehicles at low tide. At high tide, the island is only accessible by boat. Timing is crucial here - in Ransome's book, the three youngest Swallows were marooned in the middle of the Wade by the rising tide. What happened next? You'll have to read the book and find out!
