A Scrabble Scramble Team Event at The Clothiers Arms, Stocksmoor on Saturday 1st September 2012.
There is plenty of parking in the spacious car park at the pub, please use the top car park. Kids are welcome, and there is a small play area outside. There are plenty of tables outside for those with dogs, and a railway station next door.
Teams must consist of 2 - 4 persons, with a maximum of 20 teams.
Please register your teams in advance, and keep the team names clean please.
11.30hrs - Team registration, rules and regulations.
12.00hrs - Co-ordinates sheet handed out, you will then have 2 hours to run/walk to various locations to get as many different letters as possible. There will be 27 locations in the area, each location will have a different letter or blank Scrabble tiles. For example at location A, there will be 9 tiles with the letter A on ,and at location Z there will be only 1 tile. Obviously the harder letters worth more points will be further away and harder to find. Only one letter from each cache to be taken by each team. You will not know if other teams have taken all the letters from that cache until you get there. All team mates must be within talking distance of each other, this is to avoid one person running off to grab harder letters and to encourage a team ethos.
14.00hrs - Check in. Points will be deducted for each minute after this time that the teams arrive back, e.g a team arrives back at 14.05 they will loose 5 points (5 minutes late)
14.30hrs - The game of scrabble begins. The order of play will be decided by team names drawn out of a hat, and a proper game of scrabble will commence. Only words from the OSW (Official Scrabble Wordbook) will be accepted. Any letters held at the end of the game will be deducted from the teams score. The winning team will obviously be the team with the most points, but remember that points can be deducted for late arrival and letters left over at the end of the game.
16.00hrs - Game should have finished by this time, then time for a few drinks
The winners will be able to log the event as FTF, they will receive a free round of drinks and the Scrabble Scramble Champions Trophy.
