Amundkirka Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

ENG: Amundkirka is a typical sign of how the huge stones from the glacier are pushed together. All along the moraine (nor: raet) where the name of the Råde, we can find such large stones, which stands as monoliths of ice plant. We can imagine clearly the natural forces that created the moraine when we see this big stone. This stone has over the years had many names, but what we know best today Amundkirka (Amund church). Story tells that a man called Amund lived west of the "church", and today we can see the site of his place Amund in the area. He should have been called Amund terrible, probably because it was the humble state of his home. He was fishing in Vansjø, and it's easy to imagine because the place is as close to Vansjø. The legend says it was a troll named Amund inside Svartebærjet (at Grimstadbukta). He did not like the church. So he threw a stone at the church when the church bell began to ring, the stone fell into Karlshus forest. Amunds real name was Amund Andersen f.1774 he was married to Mari Leaks but named Mari Actually Eriksdatter.
