Geocache Description:

Small plastic container placed about 25 ft off the Florida Trail.  Nice walk along the orange blazed trail.

The Florida Trail is the continuous trail that begins in Big Cypress and ends at Gulf Islands National Seashore, including the loop around Lake Okeechobee, the loop in the center of the state, the trail from Lake Okeechobee to the Atlantic Ocean, and the spur trail from Harold to the Alabama line.  The Florida Trail was first conceived in 1966 with the first blaze painted in the Ocala National Forest in October 1966.  The trail was designated a national scenic trail in 1983.  The total trail system length is currently about 1800 miles with a thru-hike length of 1100 miles.  There are 1042 miles of protected trails and 360 miles of roadwalk area.  The average time to thru-hike is 8 to 12 weeks.  The mid point is at Camp Crystal Lake, Keystone Heights (Clay County).   This cache is just off of the trail in eastern Pasco county.  Closest parking is at the trailhead on Chancey Road. The cache is a small plastic black taped container. Please let us know of any problems with the coordinates as the cache was placed while tropical storm Debby was covering the area with lots of heavy clouds and rain. Enjoy. Congratulations to bradley9320 on the FTF
