Alabama has 22 state parks that have now hidden caches in their parks for the Geo Challenge. Join us as we travel Alabama to find these caches!
Cheaha info :
Cheaha has a mountain of reasons for you to visit! Cheaha State Park is the pinnacle of natural beauty and awe in Alabama. This foothill of the Appalachian Mountains is the highest point in the state. Standing 2,407 feet above sea level, it is no wonder why the local Creek Indians named this place "Chaha," meaning high place. The park hosts hiking trails, mountain bike trails, a lake for swimming and fishing, an observation tower at the highest point, campgrounds, cabins, chalets, motel rooms, a restaurant, an indian artifact museum, and much more. The park is also completely surrounded by the Talladega National Forest which offers additional recreational resources, like easily accessible trails to waterfalls and more.
Let's enjoy a day of fellowship at another of Alabama's state parks! We will be doing a meet and greet at the restaurant at Mt. Cheaha at 6pm. Buffet is 10.95 for adults, 12 -6 eat for half price, 5 and under eat FREE. Menu is also available.
After the event, we will find the cache that meets the requirement for the Geo Challenge as well as some of the other caches in the park.
Visit Alabama State Parks for more information about the parks. Hope to see you there!
Want information about the Geo Challenge? Here it is (my apologies to Woodnutt for copying and pasting from his event page) :
What is the Alabama State Parks Geocaching Challenge? This challenge is being done by the Alabama State Parks of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and will include all 22 state parks. A new geocache (one of the following type: traditional, puzzle, letter box or multi) is being hidden at each of the state parks. Most of the caches, if not all, will be of the creative type that is regular size containers or larger. Each cache will have a log book, trade items and all are kid friendly. Also, each one will have information or a code that will be needed for the final puzzle cache for the Alabama State Parks Geocaching Challenge. Once a cacher has all the information they will be able to solve the final Challenge Puzzle Cache. Anyone that solves the final puzzle will receive a geocoin that has been made for this challenge. The only way to get this coin will be to complete the challenge.
