Geocache Description:

The cache container is a a little larger than the classic “micro” sized container. It contains a log book and a codeletter for the forthcoming bonus cache but no pen.  This is a relatively large cache in a very busy area.  You will probably need to use stealth or come when the town is quiet. The tank is accessible 24/7, THE CACHE IS NOT ACCESSIBLE AFTER DARK

Cacheford
We intend this series to be a short, interesting, fairly tricky group of 6 (possibly more) urban caches set inside (or on) the ringroad around Ashford town centre. It is inspired by some of the excellent urban caches we have found over the last year, particularly in Berlin. It is intended to add to the already excellent caches available in and around the Ashford area, where we fell in love with geocaching. We hope to highlight some of the more interesting parts of Ashford, while hopefully adding to the areas geocaching credentials and maybe even bring more people into Ashfords declining town centre. I plan to release each cache individually when they are ready over the coming months. Each cache will have a codeletter inside which will eventually lead to a bonus cache.

Cacheford #2 (the Tank)
Ashford town centre has a rather unusual attraction, a rare World War One tank. The tank is a Mk IV tank which was first used in mid 1917 at the Battle of Messines Ridge. They remained in service to the end of the war. This one was presented to the town in 1919 along with other examples in Canterbury, Maidstone and Folkestone. The latter no longer exist having been scrapped, that Ashford's survives is probably due to the fact that in 1929 it was used as an electricity substation. Today the tank is one of only eight in the world and has been fully restored and is open to public inspection. The tank is accessible 24/7, THE CACHE IS NOT ACCESSIBLE AFTER DARK

FTF goes to mbeeching, well done.
