The river is good for fishing, kayaking and small boats which can be launched from the southern, seaward side of the bridge. I have enjoyed paddling several kilometres up-river from here as well as about 2km downstream. The cache is hidden in the bush on the quieter side of the bridge so you can access it unobtrusively behind some cover even while people may be launching their boats which is common over summer. There is parking just past either end of the bridge on the seaward/western side.
