Geocache Description:

[En] A short visit to the bottom of an ancient ocean.

[Ro] O scurta vizita pe fundul unui ocean stravechi.

[En]

The story begins a very long time ago. Long before the birth of the first human being. We are 65 million years back in time, in a period named the Upper Cretaceous, at the bottom of an ocean. The Earth is still dominated by Dinosaurs. But here, at the bottom of the sea, those small living creatures - reptiles, ammonites and rudists are living their existence that will vanish into extinction. They were born, they reproduced and they died. Their bodies become fossils and, after a long and complicated process those fossils were bound into the limestone that humans gathered from the Carpathian Mountains.

The Politehnica Subway Station was built in 1983 and it was decorated with limestone slabs harvested from the Apuseni Mountains. At that time nobody even imagined that the strange, beautiful shapes visible on the slabs are nothing but fossils of ancient beings.

The given coordinates bring you in front of the Politehnica Metro Station. You will have to go downstairs and pay the price of a trip in order to be allowed inside the station. Once there, you will find yourself surrounded by thousands by fossils. For the price of a metro trip, you will get a time travel to the bottom of an ancient ocean. Take some time and admire all those extinct beings. Then, in order to log the cache, send me an email with the answer to the following two questions:
1. The fossils have various shapes. However, some of them are more or less round. Which is the approximate average diameter of these fossils?
2. Which is the colour of the limestone on which the fossils are implanted?
Additionally of course, as an optional task, please upload a picture with you and your GPS outside the station at the given coordinates of the cache.

[Ro]

Povestea incepe cu mult timp in urma.

Admira in liniste aceste fiinte disparute.
