It wasn't so long ago that you could drive to here. West street in Pittsfield becomes a dirt road that goes up in to Pittsfield State Forest.
This has long been one of the back ways in but it’s been a long time since you could get far in a car. I’ve never been able to drive from here to the main gate.
There’s a gate now, the road is closed, but there’s plenty of parking on the paved part of West street for a pleasant walk up an old dirt road in the woods.
