Winthorpe Wander #7 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

La Lunatica: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

PLEASE BE AWARE THERE ARE SOMTIMES CATTLE IN THE FIELD BETWEEN CACHES 6-8. This trail of caches wanders around Winthorpe, a pretty little village on the outskirts of Newark.

I have used a variety of caches and disguises to try and keep it interesting and suggest you bring a pen and some tweezers and maybe a calculator too.

This route is not a circular walk but will take you approximately four miles.  Parts can get muddy at times.  I have cycled the track before but if this is your preferred option please be aware that you will have to lift your bike over a couple of stiles.  It is a child friendly route but is not suitable for buggies or wheel chairs.

Watch out for the fishing muggles and the big four legged ones.  They are very inquisitive and may scare small children (and Searcher1341) if they are on the footpath.

Along the way you will spot a concrete barge at Winthorpe Lake. This is a lighter barge which was used to store cargo when Hull docks was bombed in the 2nd World War. It is made of concrete because all the steel at that time was being used for the war effort. The barge was floated down the River Trent and stopped at Winthrope where it was moored and has remained ever since. As you head out along the riverbank, see how many churches you can spot. You are looking for a 2ml vial tube.
